New Relic Integration Guide

New Relic is a Performance Monitoring Application that offers a wide array of metrics that provide a nearly real-time look into the performance of a web application.

Please note

New Relic is planning on deprecating the Notification Channels and upgrading to Workflows and Destinations. We advise that you use the New Relic(Workflow) Integration instead of this New Relic Notification channel integration.

What can Zenduty do for New Relic users?

With New Relic's Integration, Zenduty sends new New Relic APM alerts to the right team and notifies them based on on-call schedules via email, text messages(SMS), phone calls(Voice), Slack, Microsoft Teams and iOS & Android push notifications, and escalates alerts until the alert is acknowledged or closed. Zenduty provides your NOC, SRE and application engineers with detailed context around the New Relic APM alert along with playbooks and a complete incident command framework to triage, remediate and resolve incidents with speed.

You can also use Alert Rules to custom route specific New Relic alerts to specific users, teams or escalation policies, write suppression rules, auto add notes, responders and incident tasks.

To integrate New Relic with Zenduty, complete the following steps:

In Zenduty:

  1. To add a new New Relic integration, go to Teams on Zenduty and click on the team you want to add the integration to.

  2. Next, go to Services and click on the relevant Service.

  3. Go to Integrations and then Add New Integration. Give it a name and select the application New Relic (Deprecated) - Legacy Webhook from the dropdown menu.

  4. Go to Configure under your integrations and copy the Webhook URL generated.

In New Relic:

  1. Log in to New Relic. Go to Alerts on the top-nav bar and click Alerts & AI / Detection & AI, scroll down to click on Channels.

  2. From the Channel Details panel, select the type of channel as Webhook. Specify the payload type as JSON.
Paste the Webhook URL you copied earlier.

  3. Select Create Channel (Optional: Select 'Send a test notification').

  4. Add the notification channel to one or more alert policies.

  5. Your New Relic integration has now been setup! Zenduty will create incidents for all New Relic alerts and auto-acknowledge and auto-resolve whenever the incident is resolved in New Relic.
